Clare Waterworth MBE

Col (retd) Clare Waterworth joined the Royal British Legion in July 2024 as the Chief of Staff. Prior to this, she served as an Army officer for thirty years in a wide variety of roles across the world. She also worked across government, including in the Cabinet Office, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and in the Ministry of Defence as the Head of Welfare Support for the Armed Forces. She was a cadet and a reservist before joining the regular Army. Her husband served in the Army until 2019, and they have two children. As well as her own lived experience, she has extensive experience of supporting service personnel, veterans, and their families, including the bereaved.
